A Coursera course on logic, covering formal reasoning and the basics of logical argument. Commenters mention it only in passing as an example of an intrinsically motivated course taken out of interest.
One commenter mentions taking it out of personal interest, as an example of the kind of course people take for intrinsic rather than financial reasons.

Honestly, I would suggest an intro to logic (philosophy type class) as a good intro. Something like https://www.coursera.org/learn/logic-introduction or alternative link http://intrologic.stanford.edu/public/index.php It’s literally the basis of what problem solving is. As others have mentioned…
Why not try learn a little bit of (mathematical) logic? After I took the logic course at the university, I found myself writing better if conditions and some other nice improvements/better understanding when working with booleans. Take a look at the logic course at coursera.
They can be taught. But you would actually want to start with a formal logic class (often taught in philosophy or rhetoric departments). I checked coursera but the [soonest class] (https://www.coursera.org/course/intrologic) starts in April.
