Go to https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-11 It's a free MIT Python course that uses 3.5 It's an amazing class. It's 50$ if you want the certificate for your resume. Cheers.
I agree with ASIC_SP. I went through the book and it was great. It doesn't teach you anything about Object-Oriented Programming but it is a nice start. MIT has a free course that is consistently praised, https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-8. I took this course…
This course started on the 30th of august and you still have time to catch up, i highly recommend it: https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-8
Edx 600x was a pretty great course. I had some frustrations of my own but overall I found it pretty damn good, especially considering it's free. https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-0
do these two courses from MIT -- do the free versions https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-11 https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computational-thinking-data-mitx-6-00-2x-6 if they move too fast then try this first https://automatetheboringstuff.com/ and then…
There's a really good edX course offer by MIT: https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-11 It covers intro computer science concepts using Python.

https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-harvardx-cs50x https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:MITx+6.00.1x_7+3T2015/course/ Pick either (personally I recommend CS50 first, then the python one) and stick with it until you finish. Keep doing the homework until you get 100%, ask…
I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but there are a lot of people like you coming to this forum with similar stories of wanting to change careers and looking for a low barrier to entry position in the industry. Programming is not the right industry for that. If someone does manage to get a job in only a…
I'm currently doing this course: https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-9 You do short exercises in between lectures and you do programming assignments each week that are computer graded. It uses Python 3 and has a little CS theory in it too. You can audit it for…
This online class is very good and just started - they are using v3.5. * https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-9
I almost finished udacity's course and i really liked it. If you want to get involved in python and just want to have enjoyable start i would recommend it.
This is a pretty good MIT course to get you into python. There are loads of great free online courses! http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00sc-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-spring-2011/Syllabus/ Edit: think that link is old, here's a newer…
https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-6 Go do the course above. If you can finish it with a decent grade, you may have a future in CS, if not you might think a bit about how willing you are to build yourself up from square one. Everyone here is being very positive…

codeacademy is good but it will teach you only syntax and that things. If you got time look at this course on edx it is starting today https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-0
See the FAQ; almost all online C++ resources are of rather poor quality. Try the Udacity course on Python: it's mostly video, so you won't have as much trouble with that, and it's well-paced.
Keep up the Good work David. It is the most amazing and complete free course on edX. You and Anant Agerwal are on my list of great teachers.
I just completed this course a couple weeks ago, and and currently getting ready for the midterm for 6.00.2x. 6.00.1x is a great course, but I'm not sure it's the best given your stated goal of trying out a variety of subjects. You will only work with python, and what you will learn will skew…
