An introductory Udacity course (CS255) on building browser games with HTML5 and JavaScript, covering the canvas, game loops, and related techniques for games that run without Flash.
Commenters point to it as the go-to option for making games that run in browsers without Flash, and say it pairs well with Codecademy's JavaScript course for beginners.
