I am in sort of your position right now, and I have 2 recommendations with a high emphasis on 1 of them. 1; Leon Noel 100 devs ( https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBf-QcbaigsKwq3k2YEBQS17xUwfOA3O3&si=4AyBqb6qWfMTT8EA ) check out the first video class 1. 2; the Odin project. Both of these courses…

Honestly, none of them unless you are having a really hard time understanding coding or you’re desperate to break into the industry as quick as possible. I won a scholarship and got to go for free which was the only way I could afford it/would pay for it. The Odin Project and some Udemy classes is…

  3. Strongly recommendsNoShameForGamesr/learnprogramming2022in “I’m a Jr. Software Developer who graduated from a bootcamp has been working full-time for 10 months. As me anything.”▲ 4

If you’re worried about being scammed, you shouldn’t force yourself to purchase a course as there are free options available to you. TOP (The Odin Project) was mentioned several times in this thread, then there’s Leon’s 100Devs which I’d recommend more.

  4. Strongly recommendsjohnnyblaze9875r/learnprogramming2022in “I was looking to build a pc and learn how to program. I’m 29, can’t land a job, and am tired doing general labor. Where do I start and any recommendations.”

Thank you!! Right, I was very fortunate to have gotten laid off due to pandemic and was able to get unemployment while doing 100devs. Everyone has different amounts of free time and everyone learns at a different speed. My two main pieces of advice. 1) don’t compare yourself to others. Imposter…

  5. Strongly recommendsVirgolovestacosr/learnprogramming2020in “I quit the bootcamp and got a full refund.”▲ 2

Was going to say the same thing! At first, he was chatting so much to the chat group (attending students), and I had been doing Odin Project, liked it, and was about three weeks into it. When I needed a break, I would watch Leon's class(I had signed up in advance), and quickly he transitioned into…

  6. Recommendsabbylynn2ur/learnprogramming2023in “I don't know what to do with programming.”

I'll add join Leon Noel's 100devs and the Discord. It's a guided self taught Software Engineer program. In the end you'll have a 100 hour polished professional project amd a great resume. But in all seriousness there are over 75k folks from around the world working through the program. There are…

  7. Recommendseveryjourneyr/learnprogramming2023in “Not sure which language, or where to start.”▲ 0

First off, I'd say start with a free course or study plan online. Undirected self-learning will be incredibly daunting because you'll run into the issue of "you don't know what you don't know" (vs those more experienced who have a better idea of what they don't know). Just to be clear, *do not pay…

  8. RecommendsHappyhailidaysr/learnprogramming2022in “#100Devs or Udemy The Web Developer Bootcamp 2022”

I am doing these two exact programs and I say do both! I would not have been able to self-study without 100devs because of the structure and expectation of doing 2 classes per week in a designated time frame (trust me I tried and wasted like 6 months lol). The Udemy courses are amazing in terms of…

  9. RecommendsParadoxScientistr/webdev2022in “Thoughts on "The Web Developer Bootcamp 2022" by Colt Steele?”

I have some programming experience (more than a beginner but not quite intermediate yet). I bought the course and have skimmed through some sections, but overall I can't say much. I do however, really recommend 100devs. It's a free course that is streamed on Twitch, 6 hours a week split into…

  10. Mentionsmbarnestechr/learnprogramming2022in “Any **programming** courses you recommend?”▲ 5

The Odin Project, 100 Devs, and Free Code Camp are all free learn-to-program courses that don’t require CS50. That said I’m doing The Odin Project Foundations right now and as I look around Reddit I wonder if I should take a step back and do CS50 before continuing or study both slowly together…
